Nangwhat!? Congrats Christine Nangle: New SNL Writer

by Bobby Chicago on Sep.01, 2009, under Blog, New Releases

One day; long from now, I will boast that a famous comedienne has been within mere feet of my bed; though I wasn’t there and it has more to do with the size of my apartment than anything.  Still, boast I will!

Yes, it’s true.  Nangle has been plucked from the steel mills of Pittsburgh and the pagodas of Brooklyn to slave away in the dank corridors of 30 Rockefeller Center.   Christine has been a big part of our group here at Bobby Chicago and we wish her the best of luck on her new job and endeavors.  We hope she’ll still have time to hang out and help us make videos.

Here’s the latest one from Nangs.  UCB Original “Thin Walls” with fellow SNL’er Abby Elliot, Zach Woods, and Paul W. Downs.  We’re waiting with baited breath for the new catch-phrase to sweep the nation; Raccoon Picture!

There is an off chance that someone has found this page who doesn’t yet know Nangs;  well we thought ahead and had her write down random facts and her accomplishments in semi-chronological order

BIO

Christine Frances Nangle has studied improv and sketch at the UCB Theatre since the summer of 2007 with teachers including Kate Spencer, Curtis Gwinn, Charlie Todd, Chris Gethard, Shannon O’Neill, Zach Woods,  Charlie Sanders and Neil Casey. She is currently a sketch writer for the UCB Maude Team High Treason, and a proud alum of  the Maude Team 27 Kidneys. She also writes for the internet sketch group Bobby Chicago. She wrote and co-starred in the Untitled Nangle/Donnelly Sketch show and co-wrote and co-starred in H.G. Wells’ Sex Machine.  She got her start on Harold Night as a member of Whorenado and now performs with The Bishop.

Nangle fell into improv and sketch comedy in Pittsburgh with the longform group Hustlebot, as well as the improv and sketch group The Cellar Dwellers.  In 2009 she rewrote the lyrics of Beyonce’s “All the Single Ladies” as a football fight song “All the Steeler Ladies” and some friends recorded it. The song was a huge hit in Pittsburgh and beyond, and she is working hard to make sure that this ridiculousness is not her legacy.

She was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.   Her writing has been featured on www.mcsweeneys.net and can be found at www.thenang.blogspot.com.  She believes Pennsylvania is the greatest state ever.

by Bobby Chicago on Mar.17, 2009, under Appearances, Blog

Last week, the inimitable Rob Lathan made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  We, of course, have found it to be a high-water mark for the burdgeoning Late Night talent.  Above is the behind the scenes of how Rob was turned into a beast from the deepest nethers of…New Jersey?
